Chevrolet Blazer EV SS Surpasses Expectations with Enhanced Power and Performance
Chevrolet EV SS

According to Chris Perkins on Motor1, The Chevrolet EV SS has more power than initially promised when it was first announced in 2022.
The highly anticipated Chevrolet Blazer EV SS is making waves as it prepares to hit dealerships, delivering even more power than originally promised. Initially announced in July 2022 with a robust 557 horsepower, the electric crossover now boasts an impressive 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque in its top-tier configuration. This significant boost enables the Blazer EV SS to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds when utilizing its Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode, all while maintaining a solid range of 303 miles on a single charge.
The updated power figures were recently confirmed by Chevrolet in conjunction with the announcement of the Blazer EV SS serving as the Daytona 500 pace car—marking the first time an electric vehicle has been chosen for this role. Road & Track first reported the horsepower increase last week, noting that the Blazer EV SS now matches the output of the Cadillac Lyriq-V, which shares the same GM platform. Interestingly, the Lyriq-V claims a slightly quicker 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds, underscoring GM’s efforts to maintain its brand hierarchy.

A Closer Look at the Blazer EV SS
The Blazer EV SS is now available on Chevrolet’s online configurator, starting at 61,995. For this price, buyers will benefit from a uniquely tuned chassis, Brembo brakes for enhanced stopping power, and a suite of performance−oriented features. While customization options are relatively limited, they include premium paint finishes, 22−inch black wheels priced at 2,950, and a 395 Performance Package that adds summer tyres and upgraded braking components. Additionally, the vehicle qualifies for the 7,500 federal EV tax credit, making it an even more compelling value proposition for performance enthusiasts.
Overcoming Delays and Challenges
The journey to the Blazer EV SS’s release has been anything but smooth. Originally slated for a 2023 launch, the vehicle faced multiple delays, with sales now set to begin in 2024. These setbacks were part of broader challenges GM encountered with its early electric vehicle initiatives. However, the company appears to have turned a corner, with strong EV sales driven by the Blazer EV lineup.
A New Benchmark for Electric Performance
With its enhanced power, impressive acceleration, and competitive pricing, the Blazer EV SS is poised to set a new standard in the electric crossover segment. Its combination of performance, range, and affordability makes it a standout option for those seeking a thrilling yet practical EV. As Chevrolet continues to refine its electric offerings, the Blazer EV SS represents a significant step forward in GM’s commitment to electrification and innovation.
For drivers eager to experience cutting-edge electric performance, the Blazer EV SS is well worth the wait. Its arrival signals not only a milestone for Chevrolet but also a promising future for electric vehicles in the performance market.
