HENSOLDT, a global leader in sensor technology, will present its latest innovations at the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) Expo from September 18 to 22, 2024, at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria. The company will showcase a variety of advanced sensor solutions aimed at addressing both local and international defence needs, with over 50,000 visitors expected at the event. The expo offers HENSOLDT an opportunity to emphasize its expertise in areas such as spectrum dominance, optronics, and radar systems. The company’s participation also highlights South Africa’s role as a strategic hub for innovation and manufacturing within the global defence industry. With a presence in more than 45 countries, HENSOLDT South Africa plays a key part in the company’s worldwide operations, contributing local expertise to the group’s international success.

Among the key products launching at the expo is the ARGOS-15 airborne imaging system. This system, building on the success of the ARGOS-II, features advanced multispectral sensor technology, including enhanced thermal imaging and image fusion capabilities, offering superior situational awareness in various operational environments. Other featured products include the COMINT automation engine, the Bushbaby 200 electro-optical system for land-based surveillance, laser rangefinders for reconnaissance and target acquisition, and the DL-6000 datalink, which supports battlefield digitisation.

Rynier van der Watt, Managing Director of HENSOLDT South Africa, emphasized the significance of the company’s local research and development (R&D) and manufacturing capabilities. He noted that HENSOLDT’s participation at AAD 2024 highlights both South African ingenuity and the group’s global influence in defence and security innovation.

With nearly 800 employees and over 60 locally developed products, HENSOLDT South Africa contributes significantly to the group's capabilities.
